Speaker: Joyce Kinmont

The Kinmonts were one of the first Utah families to homeschool, back in 1975, which brought them lots of media attention including an appearance on the Phil Donahue Show with homeschool author and activist John Holt. For many years Joyce published a print newsletter, The Tender Tutor. In 1990 she founded the LDS Home Educators Association. Joyce also serves as a volunteer family advocate with Utah Families Association, influencing legislation and helping parents who are falsely accused of child abuse. She has served in many church callings, but her favorite calling is Wife/Mom/Grandma (children, spouses, and grandchildren total 51), and her favorite activities are teaching moments, conversations, and family parties such as the Annual Kinmont Family Ball. She sees the family as the solution to all of our worldly problems.
