Recreational Resources

The National Ability Center is committed to serving our non-profit mission, providing a safe, inclusive, and uplifting environment for people with disabilities. We are proud to offer a place where individuals can practice and develop their individual goals and life-long skills, and cultivate independence and self-advocacy. We believe everyone should be able to thrive and experience the joy of recreation. We not only work to support individuals with disabilities through adaptive recreation, but we also live our brand outside of work. Recreation is not just a job for us; it’s a way of life.

The mission of Wasatch Adaptive Sports is to encourage individuals with adaptive needs and their families to realize their potential and engage in active living through recreational, educational, and social programs. We are a community in which people of all abilities experience the power of recreation whenever and wherever they choose. Wasatch Adaptive Sports requires no initial fee and provides full or partial scholarships. Our programs empower students to achieve their unique goals in recreation while maximizing independence and providing access to the physical, mental, and social benefits associated with movement.

The mission of the Utah Parent Center (UPC or Center) is to help parents help their children, youth, and young adults with all disabilities to live included, productive lives as members of the community. We accomplish our mission by providing accurate information, empathetic peer support, valuable training, and effective advocacy based on the concept of parents helping parents. The UPC is founded on the philosophy that parents are full partners in the decision-making processes that direct their child’s care and programs and, as such, can provide significant support to other parents in similar circumstances. Services of the Utah Parent Center are typically free.

Recreational Resources for Kids With Disabilities (National Ability Center, Wasatch Adaptive Sports, Copperview Rec Center, Utah Parent Center)

This class brings together the resources Mike and Elizabeth Lindsey have found in the Utah area that can help homeschoolers with special-needs youth. They bring in several representatives of NAC, WAS, and other knowledgeable homeschoolers to give first-hand guidance and resources that they have found.
