Balance and Moderation (Nicole Freeman) Combined class with adults

Stillwell Room

The key word for this class could be STRIVING. Striving for balance and moderation. It’s a journey, not a destination. We strive for the ideal. Our goal is to keep balance and moderation in view and move forward as imbalance and indulgence enter. Life constantly moves from order to chaos to order again, balance to imbalance, and back to balance, moderation to indulgence to moderation. What are we learning in the process? Recognize that you are spiraling up. You are doing better than you think!

How to Teach my Teen to Study (Nicole Freeman)

Stillwell Room

Homeschooled students often learn while on the move, during family adventures, in group activities, or with friends in co-ops. Knowledge is acquired organically with fascinating tidbits recited ad nauseam during learning experiences. But there comes a time when studying becomes necessary. Advanced studies, community college, robust online courses, and college entrance exams will all require studying skills to be adequately prepared. Study skills are not subject-specific but can be used universally. What works, and how do I teach my child to study? Lighting, highlighters, white noise, or silence are all part of the studying environment. Do they need notecards and how do they learn to take notes? These important skills will be used forever.
