Speaker: Melissa Orton

Melissa grew up in a small town in Idaho—growing potatoes and moving water lines. She is the oldest of six children, and the only girl. Her parents started homeschooling when she was a junior in high school. By taking home study courses from BYU, she was able to graduate from high school early and begin college. This helped her realize how much time is really wasted in public school, and convinced her that she wanted to homeschool her own children some day! Melissa and Matt have three daughters, ages fourteen, eleven, and seven, which they have, homeschooled from the start. Melissa has been serving in the LDSEHE organization since 2008. She has learned a lot from the other homeschool moms she has had the privilege to serve with.
