Speaker: Becca Bamberg

Becca Bamberg inadvertently began her home schooling lifestyle in 2008 when she joined a home school group to give her oldest, then four years old, preschool socialization and enrichment. After a year of talking with home schooling parents and learning the value in home-based education, she tentatively began intentionally home schooling her two daughters, then a precocious five year old and a suspected neurodiverse three year old. In 2010 it became necessary for Becca to return to the work force, and she entered trade school and navigated her divorce. Friends and family were an invaluable support as she pursued her education and began her massage career in 2011 while continuing to home school. In 2018, both daughters enrolled in an online public charter school and Becca again returned to school in 2020. In December 2021, her oldest completed her high school credits through the charter school’s early college program and intends to complete her associates degree Spring 2023. Her youngest, after oscillating between home schooling and charter schooling in supporting her neurodiversity challenges, has found a good fit with a second charter school and is on track to receive her high school diploma Spring 2024. The quote, “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire” often attributed to William Butler Yeats, has served throughout these years to maintain Becca’s intention for her daughters’ education.

When not facilitating the education of her daughters, Becca can be found … Really?!? Who are we kidding here? Home schooling is a lifestyle! Becca enjoys a thriving massage practice in Beaverton, Oregon and a budding secondary career as a certified professional aromatherapist. She is happily married to her soulmate and co-educator and together they enjoy travelling (social studies to go), motorcycling and guiding two amazing young women into adulthood.
