The Lord has not been silent about education; nor was Joseph Smith. In addition to the scriptures, however, the prophets have clearly set forth what should be included in the education of our youth. Perhaps nowhere has this been highlighted as much as in the early attempt of the Saints to organize their own school system. Early advocates (Prophets and other General Authorities) of an LDS approach to education specifically outlined the essentials of what should be included, how it should be taught, and who should do the teaching.
