Family is the fundamental unit of our society. Strong, resilient families are: happier, wealthier, healthier, live longer, less depressed, and less likely to experience domestic violence. Children in strong families do better in schoolwork, socially, have fewer drug problems, are mentally stronger, and are less likely to be delinquent or abused. Unfortunately, far too few families have sufficient levels of resilience, nor have they focused on increasing their strengths. Yes, even families who homeschool can get on each other’s nerves sometimes. Drawing on the latest research and real-life examples, this session discusses key elements that make up strong families and provides several ideas for strengthening your own family. As David Mace stated, “Nothing in the world could make human life happier than to greatly increase the number of strong families.”
