Motion, Matter and Infinities

Everyone knows that objects move from one place to another, that some objects are larger than others and that there is nothing larger than infinity. However, when scientists (in antiquity and in the modern period) have tried to reconcile these beliefs with all of the other obvious truths they accepted, important and informative paradoxes were generated. Jan-Erik Jones examines Zeno’s paradoxes of motion along with analogous paradoxes for physical objects and numbers, as well as possible solutions and lessons from these historically important problems.
