There was a time when history ruled the world. Sages, scientists, generals, artists, kings and merchants used history as the central textbook, and made decisions based on the lessons of the past. Investors looked to the past for guidance, as did statesmen and artisans. Stories are the foundation of history, the foundation upon which all societies base their view of the world and with which they face and choose the future, and God is the central figure. No honest reader of history can doubt that the great men and women of history were influenced by their religions, beliefs and relationships with God. The purpose of Living History is to provide parents a history text in story form (the method used by the Savior in His teachings) from which to teach their children, blending the secular and religious together, and putting God back into history. Students come to better understand their world and their place in it when history is taught in this format.
