Creative Writing for the Elementary Aged Child

“The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul.” Dieter F. Utchdorf

For this hour, we will focus on the power of creating stories with your children and bringing their ideas to life. I’ll run a mock creative writing class for the elementary aged child (so come ready to contribute and write!). I will fill your toolbox with multiple exercises that are both fun and effective ways to inspire children to create and play with words.

Creative writing is most powerful when not limited by a child’s ability to write, spell, or use grammar appropriately. I’ll share powerful ways to allow even the youngest of children to be a creative writer, powerful everyday tools to keep our children spinning stories, and the power of reading good books to inspire creative writing.
