Becoming Acquainted with Languages, Tongues, and People (Parents' Class)

In D&C 90:15, we are instructed to “become acquainted with…languages, tongues, and people.” What is the inherent value in studying different languages and cultures? Why are these subjects of particular significance to Latter-day Saints? Steve Bonta describes the merits of learning about other people and languages, both from a practical and gospel perspective. He also shows how to educate ourselves and our children in a foreign language, and discover which languages may be most useful for the Latter-day Saint scholar.
