Wouldn’t it be great if your child came with an owner’s manual for his brain? How can you tell if his quirky behavior is “normal”? Is doing flashcards with your infant part of his required maintenance? This class will help you gain an appreciation for the miracle that is the human brain, understand what interventions can aid a developing brain to reach its potential and which popular recommendations are without scientific merit, and become familiar with a few common brain dysfunctions parents should be aware of. But most of our time will be spent learning how to “teach with the brain in mind” – to apply what we know about brain function in raising and teaching our children.
