The 1828 dictionary defines character as “the peculiar qualities, impressed by nature or habit on a person, which distinguish him from others.” Homeschool parents have the opportunity to teach their children how to prepare to accomplish the mission they were sent to earth to perform. Homeschooled youth can be thinkers and leaders, instead of, as Oliver DeMille puts it, “receiving a conveyer belt education” and learning to be followers. Using history to teach our children about men and women of character gives them real examples to emulate as they make their own choices in life.
