Mentoring the One

Mentors always teach, but teachers don’t always mentor. To be more than a teacher to your kids is what you really want – you know that in your core – but how do you do it? Even though the dynamics in each home are different and every child is unique, there are principles and strategies you can master which will elevate your skills so that you can become a mentor for your kids and others you influence in your community. During this session you will be asked to pick one child or youth to focus on while we explore the topic. You probably know, intuitively, which one needs your prayerful attention right now. Choose that one! As you focus on the “one,” you will grow your mentoring skills without becoming overwhelmed. The ease with which you mentor naturally spreads to the “many” and all are blessed. You may even find that becoming a great mentor helps you on the path of your own personal growth (I have yet to see someone that it hasn’t!). This is an active process, please come prepared to work hard, ask questions, and change paradigms.
