Incorporating Family History into Your Homeschool

Author, historian, genealogist, and homeschool mom Connie Lapallo will talk about how growing up with four generations under one roof shaped her love of history and family stories. At the age of eleven, she woke up one morning to the sound of a voice urging her to write down her great-grandmother’s stories. She did, and she drew her first family tree at the same time. That small venture led her to write three novels based on real people in her family. In this class, Connie will talk about the importance of young people collecting family stories as heirlooms. She’ll explain how you can help your children interview older family members and create their own family trees. Children can even use ancestors as jumping off points for short stories, incorporating history, genealogy, and writing all in one.
