Elder Neal A. Maxwell has said, “Work is always a spiritual necessity even if, for some, work is not an economic necessity.” As homeschoolers, we have the opportunity to work intimately with our children in many capacities, and this talk will specifically focus on the blessings and opportunities that come from working together as a family.
Family work helps to strengthen family relationships, instill character, and build teamwork. Important skills are taught, and talents are found and developed. Most importantly, a spirit of love and peace can be found in working together for common goals.
Our family has found many opportunities to work together, including running a small business. We have learned to rely on each other, to follow through on commitments, and to enjoy each other’s company while doing mundane tasks. It’s not always easy and we definitely have ups and downs. But every family can find the blessings in working together. We’ll talk about ideas and inspiration for implementing family work, overcoming challenges, and finding the blessings.
