Many people think that homeschooling is “mom lecturing to children sitting at desks and doing workbooks all day.” But “school at home” is far different from home education, and the moms who insist on doing school at home will likely either send their kids back to school within a year or two, or they will become aware of their error and make the needed changes.
Socrates said that “philosophy begins in wonder.” A sense of wonder leads to inquiry, which leads to self-education. Children are born to learn, and in an atmosphere of freedom and support they will do just that. In this workshop we will discuss the types of materials and routines that are helpful in creating a learning lifestyle in your home and, most importantly, how to nurture in your children a sense of wonder that will be one of their greatest strengths as they move into adulthood.
