Making Your House a Home

What does it take to make a “house” a “home”? A house is where family members sleep, eat, and live together; in a home, all those activties are done in harmony. A house is often full of contention and selfishness; a home grows in charity and love. A house fosters idleness and entitlement; a home practices work and industry. A house schools boys and girls of the world; a home schools sons and daughters of God. Our homes are the workshops of the Lord, and we must become more creative and engaged in the lives of our children, our most sacred responsibility. D&C 88:118 says, “…establish a house of prayer, a house of fasting, house of faith, house of learning, house of glory, a house of order and a house of God.” Once these basics are implemented, then a house will become a home because it is a place where we feel we belong. In this class I will help you visualize how applying this scripture actually works in a homeschool setting. We will discuss ideas and layouts in holding family councils, home maintenance (scheduling time, meals, needs and personal surroundings), and home management (surroundings, atmosphere, and environment of the home). I hope that the routines and ideas we have tried and tested in our own home life will be inspiring and helpful to you and your family.

Audio quality is poor, but there are still many gems in this class.
