We live in a world of consumption where it is commonplace to sit and consume hours and hours of content (Netflix, video games, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, etc.) every single day. As a society, we are losing our ability to create and produce because of our tendency to consume. This class is not intended to teach you how to avoid consumption through screens and social media. Instead, we want to focus on teaching ways that you can change your usage of modern technology from consumption to creation. The tools we have been given are amazing, but we absolutely must use them to create and produce in lieu of using them as tools of consumption. We will discuss strategies to change our use of technology and introduce the production/consumption ratio.

Nephi Zufelt

How would you tell the story of Little Red Riding Hood in space with a twist? In this workshop we will learn how to perform and tell funny stories on the spot with a group. Have fun, get silly, and play games to help you think on your feet. Just want to watch and learn? That’s okay too.

What is money? And how is it different than a currency? We spend much of our lives pursuing and worrying about money. But have we ever taken the time to understand what it is or how it came to be? We will take a brief look at the different monies people have used throughout history and what we use today. We will also look at how money is still evolving to be more efficient and honest. The use of decentralization and cryptography applied to money has given rise to Bitcoin. We will explain Bitcoin, what it is, how it works, and why this disruptive technology has many implications that will affect our lives in the future.

Homeschooling is a great way to ensure that our children are being taught according to our standards. Are our children sufficiently prepared to face the fiery darts of the adversary? Do they know what it is to, “Put on the whole armour of God”, as stated in Ephesians chapter six? This class touches on the negative influences and temptations that our youth face, even as homeschoolers. This class will help explain to the youth how to put on their spiritual armour to protect themselves, as explained to us by the scriptures and our church leaders.

Permaculture is a design science for creating lasting abundance. It is a set of principles that when followed allow you learn from the natural laws and systems that God created and then carry that knowledge and understanding forward to design, build, create and grow your own healthy, verdant, ongoing systems to meet human needs and heal mortal problems. Permaculture encompasses everything from apiculture and aquaculture to wallapinis, wofatis, and zoology. If you like to eat, be out in nature, explore or design things, dream of living in a hobbit house or are just the curious sort there are some precious gems you will find in the realm of Permaculture. Life is full of amazing adventures and opportunities, but it also has disruptions like temptation, pornography, and addiction. In this class, we’ll discuss a military tactic called the Kill Zone that has been used throughout history, and which Satan also uses to try and enslave us, keeping us from reaching our full potential. We will learn exactly what this tactic looks like and how to escape its grasp using tools and principles that can be applied by every family. Avoiding disruptions and surviving the Kill Zone is the key to helping our children discover their strength and achieve their purpose!

I often hear people say, “I can only draw stick figures,” but a more accurate way of saying it would be, “I can only SEE stick figures.” So…this is not a drawing class. This is a seeing class (where we happen to be drawing). No matter what your skill level is, you will learn new tricks that will help you to see (and therefore draw) more accurately. We will discuss the concept that seeing is much more than just observing physical features—it is a way of life that brings overwhelming feelings of peace and joy.

Whitney taught, “God teaches with symbols; it is his favorite method of teaching.” Bring your scriptures and notebooks to learn 25 symbols of Jesus Christ found in His pre-mortal and mortal ministry. This spirited class will help you understand His atonement in a deeper and richer as you learn tools to make relevant application from scripture study.

Eric Richards

So, you want to be the supreme leader of the land and have people subject to your every whim? What do you need to do? First, you need your own group of cronies to help you get into power. Then, after you take control, you need supporters to keep you in power since you won’t be able to control everything by yourself. Last of all, you must reward them better than any possible competition. We’ll talk about how this plays out in real life situations and how the power structures in place for most dictators, CEOs, and Presidents are remarkably similar.
