Make Your Mark (Chris Jones)

Youth Tent

A Viking knew he had lived a good life if, at the end of it, the bards made a song out of it. Today, we'd probably be happy with a YouTube video, or maybe a three-part limited series on Netflix. But do we have to wait until we're dead for that? (The answer is more complicated than you might think.) And how do we live that kind of life? (That's a little less complicated than you might think.) With advice from Plato, Parley Pratt, and Phineas (and Ferb), let's figure out together how to make a mark that lasts--and might be worth a song or two.

The Joy of Failure (Chris Jones)

Small Pavilion

We're all aware of the great failures in history--Abraham Lincoln, Joan of Arc, Darth Vader--but is a failure really a failure if he gets his own six-movie arc? What about the real failures--like us? We can't even get the kids to read Little Women, let alone take out the trash. What hope is there of a "well done, thou good and faithful servant" when we haven't seen our ministering families in church since the Benson Administration? Well, good news. Our failures are a feature, not a bug. And remember, we voted for this. We knew something then that we've forgotten. Let's remember it together.
