Teen Mental Health 101

Presented by: Stacy Hawks

Join me for a crash course in mental health! What is normal development? When should a parent be concerned about their child’s development? This class will give parents a basic understanding of mental health, the signs of anxiety, depression, addiction, suicidality, and what to do with it all once you know.

*Sensitive topics and direct discussion.  Please preview before listening to this audio with children or youth.*

Stacy was raised in northern Utah and has had a passion for counseling since her junior year in high school. She earned her bachelor’s degree at Weber State University before moving to Virginia with her husband, where she completed a master’s in counseling psychology with a specialization in addiction therapy at Capella University. She completed her internship with the Prince William County adult mental health program for nine months, then continued on for two more years doing individual, group therapy, and psycho-education with them. She then moved back to Utah to be near family. She worked in Utah for a adolescent residential treatment center and currently works with adolescents doing individual and family therapy. She loves spending time with her family: playing games, camping, and cooking. Her other passion is her hair, which she loves to dye crazy colors according to her mood.
