Penny Gardner is the mother of six children and grandmother of seven. She has degrees in elementary education and music education. She has more than twenty years of experience as a full-time home educator and an additional eight years in various classroom settings.

Penny started using the Charlotte Mason approach in 1994 with powerful results. Penny is author of Charlotte Mason Study Guide; Italics, Beautiful Handwriting for Children; and the Nine-Note Recorder Books. She is a contributing author/curriculum-developer for Core Music for Kids, an Arts Educated curriculum. Penny is also a fellow of the Central Utah Writing Project and teaches youth summer writing camps at BYU.
