Finding the Rabbit Trails in Life and Literature

Presented by: Christine Owens

Christine Owens has been homeschooling her children for seven years and has been married to her high school sweetheart for 21 years. She believes that children have an in-born curiousity to learn all things. At a young age (since she was four), she knew she wanted to become a kindergarten teacher. As she pursued a teaching career and started a family, she decided that teaching her own children was where she needed to use her creativity and passion for teaching, due to the changing atmosphere in public schools. She also enjoys helping others see that learning is in everything and teach others to inspire their own children through everyday experiences. Christine has traveled to twenty countries and still travels the U.S. whenever she gets the chance. In addition to homeschooling her own children, she has over thirteen years of experience working with children in and out of public schools (pre-K-high school). She has done preschool drama and pull-out math tutoring to children’s choir and marching band/color guard coaching. She currently runs her own business, Little Rabbit Trails, and creates child-led unit studies based on classic literature.

Have you ever noticed that no matter how much time you put into a lesson plan, your children manage to find something else to be interested in? Stop being a victim of this vicious cycle, and learn how to inspire and follow your child’s curiousity. In this session, learn how to recognize hidden curiousities, how to inspire your children to learn new things, and how to unlock the secrets hidden within the books you read every day. Turn life and your family read aloud, into a “curriculum” that will leave your children begging for more.
