Exploring Other Cultures in Your Home

Presented by: Christine Owens

Christine Owens has been homeschooling her children for seven years and has been married to her high school sweetheart for 21 years. She believes that children have an in-born curiousity to learn all things. At a young age (since she was four), she knew she wanted to become a kindergarten teacher. As she pursued a teaching career and started a family, she decided that teaching her own children was where she needed to use her creativity and passion for teaching, due to the changing atmosphere in public schools. She also enjoys helping others see that learning is in everything and teach others to inspire their own children through everyday experiences. Christine has traveled to twenty countries and still travels the U.S. whenever she gets the chance. In addition to homeschooling her own children, she has over thirteen years of experience working with children in and out of public schools (pre-K-high school). She has done preschool drama and pull-out math tutoring to children’s choir and marching band/color guard coaching. She currently runs her own business, Little Rabbit Trails, and creates child-led unit studies based on classic literature.

Learning about other cultures and religions can be strange and intimidating. In this class, you will learn about valuable resources and learn how to create experiences right in the comfort of your home. Doing this will expand your child’s worldview and create tolerance and understanding when faced with things that would have otherwise been strange. Don’t let the unknown stop you from showing your children the wonderful variety in the world.
