Challenge Accepted: I Will Rise (Greg Denning)

When the time to perform has arrived, the time to prepare has passed. Now, today, is YOUR time to prepare for your ‘finest hour’. Winston Churchill said: “To each there comes in their lifetime a special moment when they are figuratively tapped on the shoulder and offered the chance to do a very special thing, unique to them and fitted to their talents. What a tragedy if that moment finds them unprepared or unqualified for that which could have been their finest hour.” We live in a challenging time where the world is faced with upheaval and confusion. Too many good youth are faltering and failing simply because they are unprepared to embrace the challenges they’re offered. Become a great force for good in the world by preparing now to train for personal greatness.

Everyone has unique talents and abilities, and the Lord can use each one, no matter how random it may be to help gather scattered Israel. This message will motivate listeners to develop their talents so they can bless the lives of others. With stories from the lives of outstanding Latter-day Saints who have “let their lights shine,” come to be reminded that your abilities are God’s gifts to you - and what you do with them are your gifts to God. Discover your gifts, let them shine, and watch how the Lord uses your talents to bless others around you.

What is Holding You Back? (Samuel Martineau)

While everyone is unique and different students take different approaches, there definitively are academic behaviors that lead to success and academic behaviors that impede growth and it really isn't too difficult to see which ones are which. And yet students often struggle to engage in behaviors that are obviously to their benefit. What is going on? When I talk to students they usually say that they are lazy, aren't motivated, or don't like the class. It's a good indication that students generally have a poor understanding of what is holding them back.

Math, Science and Magic: How Mathemathic Principles Affect Magic Performance (Chuck Porter)

There is an underlying historical fact, that through the use of “magic”, the modern sciences were developed. Chemistry, physics, mathematics, astronomy, philosophy, psychology, and the like, all stem through ancient practice commonly known as magic. Through the enlightenment of humanity, and the passage of history, magic has evolved into an elegant performance art. Magic as performance holds wonder and amazement. Used skillfully, the art of magic can not only entertain, but it can also educate and inspire.

The Surprising Practicality of Dreaming (Dan Ralphs)

For years I worked as a Dream Manager at a major software startup, my job was to help our employees identify, articulate and accomplish their personal dreams. From riding elephants in Thailand, to riding bikes through northern Europe, to launching new small businesses or starting a non-profit, I have helped reawaken dormant dreams and watched them become reality. In every case, the dreamer grew more confident, creative, engaged, and productive. They changed in ways that traditional development programs could never touch. They were fundamentally different because they were able to tap into a powerful internal motivation that lay dormant. As a father of five and a former high school teacher, I have seen these same principles transform my students and even my teenagers. In this session, we will discover how you can leverage the power of dreaming to inspire both yourself and your families.
