Family Activity - Poetry Tea Time Unplugged (Christine Owens)

What would you do to have your children sit still while you read to them? What if I told you that it could be as simple as a cup of herbal tea. Poetry tea time has a magical way of capturing the minds of even the busiest of children—yes, even little boys. During this live poetry tea time, not only will we enjoy some poetry and sip a cuppa together, but I will also share some tips and tricks to introduce poetry with your children that will have you wondering why you haven’t been doing this the whole time. Your children deserve to have poetry as a part of their education.

Top Secret: Shakespeare Isn't Hard! (Jordan Long)

Did you know that William Shakespeare is one of the most quoted authors in General Conference? There's a reason for that. For years, well meaning individuals have told us that Shakespeare is hard to understand. Well I've got a secret for you—he isn't! You just have to know what you're looking for. Join us for a landslide of information about all the amazing lessons that can be taught using Shakespeare's plays AND how to teach and include them in your homeschooling!

Do you long to have a group of home schooling mothers to share ideas and troubleshoot challenges with? Does the idea of starting or leading a community leave you feeling nervous or overwhelmed? Come learn from Diana’s experience of moving to a new state, not knowing anybody when she arrived, and building a homeschool community from the ground up. She will share ideas of how to meet people and find others who share your vision. Then she will walk you through the logistics of forming and running a community.

Comunalations (Corey Freeman)

Often it’s hard or awkward to start a conversation with someone, especially if they're someone you don’t know, and harder still to know how to lead one without controlling it. Getting Out of the Public School Mentality (Kathy Mellor)

Despite our experiences of being scarred (in one way or another) by our public school experience and the dismal outcomes we see coming out of the public schools now, it's hard to break loose from the way we think school should “look.” At our session, we'll talk about the fears, paradigms, and distortions that keep us from creating the meaningful culture and experience that's really in our hearts. We will also explore strategies for homeschooling in ways where our family can truly engage and experience education which is matched to our individual talents and purpose.
