‘I had a dream, once.’
What was it? To be a cowboy? Go to the seven wonders of the world? Be in a movie? Dreams come in all shapes and sizes, and you get pumped every time you think and talk about it. But, just like in any good book, the character meets opposition. So what are you going to do about it?? In this class, you’ll see that whatever seemed impossible just became possible.

Travis Parry

Have you ever been told something but had a sense it wasn’t quite true? Have you ever clicked on something but did not know exactly why? The Internet is filled with information. Our minds use mental shortcuts to quickly find truth and make decisions. These shortcuts are hacked, like a computer, on a regular basis. Craig will discuss these mental models (shortcuts) and ways of counteracting their influence. The most powerful computer you will need to control will be your own mind.

Craig Field

Explore and understand the impact of interest rates on student loans, credit cards, and personal borrowing in your life. We will examine making decisions on borrowing to finance purchases compared to delaying purchases until funds are earned and saved, thereby answering such questions as:
-Should I borrow money to go to school?
-What is compound interest, and how does it affect the cost of a car, home or education?
-Should one ever borrow to buy or pay for something? An education, for example?

Brother Handy cuts through the confusion and shows the clear connection between science and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Using examples from the Brethren and his own experiences, he shows that the Lord wants us to succeed in science and will help us to do so. Good science and bad science will be compared and contrasted, to help you avoid being deceived. Strengthen your faith, broaden your horizons, boost your ambition, and develop even more gratitude for all that God has given us.

David Handy

So many of life’s experiences, so many opportunities given to you, so many choices you’ve made prepare you for your mission in life. Yes, you can make a difference! Lively, engaging writing is an asset to any future career. But writing about yourself can help you land a spot in the school of your choice, as well as scholarship and internship opportunities. In fact, a good college essay often begins as a journal entry. Frequent journal writing has value in itself as a marvelous tool of self-discovery. Using actual prompts from BYU Admissions essays, learn how to tell your story in a fun and powerful way. You may be surprised what you learn about yourself in the process.

People are wired to connect with each other. Whether you are outgoing or private, whether you like to have lots of friendships or just one or two really close friends, the fact is you never would have survived this long without relationships, and your brain is wired for survival. That is the reason why emotions in relationships sometimes feel like life-or-death, especially when a relationship starts or seems to be ending or if you have been hurt by someone who was supposed to care about you.

In this class you will learn what it means to value yourself and how to have healthy relationships. You will learn how to listen deeply and how to be heard. You will also learn how to have good boundaries and manage tough emotions in relationships.

In this class, you will consider some of the ways in which our Heavenly Father sets and achieves goals and learn to follow His example.
