Conference West 2018

May 30th-June 1st, 2018
Eccles Conference Center, Logan, Utah

"What are LDSHE Conferences, and why would I want to come to one?"

LDSHE Conferences are a place to reinvigorate your homeschool. Three days of educational classes and fun activities shared with like-minded people will uplift you and your youth. Our presenters include subject experts as well as homeschooling "Mentor Moms" (and Dads!), all of whom are passionate about the topic they have to share with parents and youth.

On Wednesday the adults can choose between two seminars. New homeschoolers and those who need a refresher course can attend our Beginners' Seminar where they will learn the basics of launching a great homeschool. Or they can attend our Mentoring Seminar with Kathy Mellor, of Unleashing Your Voice, a homeschool mom of six and mentor to hundreds of youth.
The Home Education Conference on Thursday and Friday kicks off with a keynote by Rachel DeMille, and continues with classes on a wide variety of subjects. Mentor Mom/Dad and professional speakers have been carefully chosen to fill your needs.

Youth can attend our Wednesday Friendship Seminar where they will experience a day filled with mentoring on how to be a light to the world, finishing up the day with a keynote from Hank Smith on "The Habits of Extraordinary Teens."
On Thursday and Friday at the Youth Education Conference they can attend classes which are practical, inspirational, exciting, and educational, while making new friends among "the nicest bunch of kids this side of the Mississippi."

Don't miss our free activities for the whole family which are offered each evening, including a Talent Show, Family Dance, Physics Show and a Graduation Celebration.
Parents can unwind and process all they've learned each evening at the Mentor Mom Chat Room, where they will find support from like-minded people.
Daytime activities for dads/grandparents and kids have been a hit at our East conference for years, and we're now offering them for the first time at our West conference.

Beginners' Seminar West:
Wednesday May 30, 2018

Not sure where to begin? Want a refresher? At the Beginners' Seminar, no question is too small.

At the Beginner's Seminar, we focus on some of the hows and whys of homeschooling. This is a great place to come if you're thinking of homeschooling, just starting out, or want to be reminded of why you started on this path.

  • Learn from homeschooling mothers who have years of experience. Come be inspired to learn how to implement tiny ideas that have a great impact -- a little tweak here and there.
  • Join other new homeschoolers and have your pressing questions answered.
  • Attend classes on homeschooling basics.
  • Gain assurance that you can homeschool your children successfully.
You'll learn from great speakers that are all at different stages on the homeschooling journey. They'll help you form your foundation or go back to the basics.

Mentoring Seminar West
Wednesday May 30, 2018

"Red Letter Mentoring"

In ancient times, a special day was marked on the calendar in red. What if every homeschool day was a red-lettered day?

As the mother of six and the mentor to hundreds of youth, Kathy Mellor has been homeschooling since before it was cool. Through this all-day seminar, she will be sharing the insights and hard-earned lessons she's learned as a master mentor.

  • Workshops to improve the skills it takes to become an effective mentor in your children's lives.
  • Learn about and practice mentoring in various environments.
  • Be challenged to think deeply about bringing highly personalized education into your home.

Whether you are a beginner surrounded by littles or a veteran homeschooler, you will walk away feeling confident about being the expert in your home. You will receive content that is worth hearing and experiences that bring you transformation!

Home Education Conference West
Thursday and Friday May 31 - June 1, 2018

Come be inspired by speakers who have been in your shoes: building a family culture with "real intent."

At LDSHE you will meet other homeschoolers who believe the same gospel principles as you. It's a time to connect with others and gain assurance you are not alone on this journey.

  • Hear great speakers like Rachel DeMille and Angela Baker who will excite and inspire you as a homeschooler.
  • Learn from other homeschooling moms and dads who have found excellent ways to dovetail faith, family and home education.
  • Find ways to accomplish your homeschooling goals while keeping balance in your life
  • Experience the warmth and love found in the LDSHE community each evening at our Mentor Mom Chats.
  • Enjoy free and fun family activities each evening.

Come learn and grow with us. You'll leave the conference with a renewed passion and confidence that you can provide your children with the education they need.
