East Conference Overview

"This conference always gets better and better. It's just what I need to encourage and inspire me!"

LDSHE has been holding annual conferences in the mid-Atlantic since 2004, but they are always fresh and new. This year's three day conference introduces...

So many great things are planned!

  • LDSHE youth will be learning friendship skills.
  • Adults can choose from two seminars: the Self-Care Seminar or
  • the Beginners' Seminar--for those who are considering homeschooling, are new homeschoolers, or just need a refresher course.
  • Dads and Kids group will be off exploring historical sites in the area.
  • In the evening the entire family will enjoy the Talent Extravaganza and other evening activities.

At the Home Education Conference, the adults will hear

  • a keynote by Ali Eisenach
  • special needs expert Judi Munday
  • parenting expert Nicholeen Peck
  • and many more including a special track of classes on homeschooling through high school.

The youth will kick off the day with

  • featured speaker Eric Richards
  • a wide variety of classes and activities throughout the day.
  • Everyone can end the day with the ever-popular Family Dance, or join the discussions in the Mentor Mom Chat Room.

Enjoy fellowshipping with your new friends by selecting from

  • 18 presentations for adults
  • 15 presentations for youth
  • a special track of classes on mental health.
  • Top it off with a combined youth/adult Closing Keynote with Dr. Hank Smith.
  • Then come to our Graduation Celebration as we spotlight the achievements of our homeschooled graduates.

Beginners' Seminar
Wednesday May 16, 2018

Nervous about starting or continuing your family's homeschool experience? Come hear from moms who are in the trenches of homeschooling and are anxious to encourage you on your journey!

The Beginners' Seminar is perfect for you if you are:

  • just starting your homeschool journey
  • in your 1st or 2nd year and thinking you need some calm assurance
  • just thinking about homeschooling and wondering if it would be a good choice for your family

Come and meet homeschool moms who have been where you are—at the beginning. Our Mentor Moms will discuss topics which concern every new homeschooler: scheduling, socialization, feelings of inadequacy, and many more. We will finish the day with a panel discussion, so be sure to bring your questions.

Self-Care Seminar

Wednesday May 16, 2018

Are you losing yourself in homeschooling? Come learn how to strengthen yourself and follow YOUR passions so you have more to give when school starts!

Our expert moms will help you:

  • learn mindfulness and self-awareness to help you stay calm when the going gets tough
  • teach you how to create habits and rituals to make sure the most important things are included in your homeschool life
  • remind you of and encourage you in YOUR passions so you can grow along with your kids

Join us for a day with moms who know how easy it is to lose yourself in the homeschool journey, but also how important it is that you don't let that happen. We will be focusing on strengthening ourselves so that we can strengthen our families and homes.

Home Education Conference:

"Be of Good Cheer; Do Not Fear,
For I The Lord Am With You"

Thursday and Friday May 17 - 18, 2018

Do you ever worry your homeschool isn't "good enough"? This year's conference is packed with classes to help you to fight that fear, be of good cheer, and rely on the Lord's hand in your homeschool.

As we work to make our homeschools what our children need them to be, we can be of good cheer and have no fear by relying on the Lord and strengthening each other. Our speakers will cover topics such as:

  • preparing your kids for college
  • keeping your children motivated
  • improving your homeschool environments and routines

We look forward to learning together how to create strong, fearless homeschools to benefit the whole family.

Youth Education Conference:

The LDSHE conference is a great place to learn, be inspired, and set big goals. Spread your wings and soar with featured speaker Hank Smith.

Soar through two days of making lifelong friends, playing games, eating snacks and soaking up new knowledge.
