A toddler learning to walk sets his/her eyes on a parent whose arms are outstretched. This parent serves as a reference point for the young child as they put one unsure foot forward after another, never losing sight of their reference. A young teenager, learning to drive, relies on the clearly drawn median and shoulder lines on the road. They serve as reference points to the young driver keeping them safe. A young athlete practices plays and conducts drills ad nauseum in order to be able to execute with muscle memory in competition without even a thought.

We have all come to learn and appreciate reference points and habit patterns in our everyday lives. There exists equally important spiritual reference points and habit patterns, which, if learned and applied, can help guide us through the challenging times we now face. We will identify some of these together and learn how to use them to help guide us on our way back to our Heavenly Home.
